Wike Inspects Appeal Court Complex Project, Tasks Contractors On Timely Delivery

todayJuly 24, 2025

Background

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has directed the contractor handling the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal office complex to ensure the project is completed by September 2025.

The Minister issued the directive on Wednesday, July 23, during an inspection of the construction site located in Dakibiyu, Jabi District, to assess the progress and quality of work.

Apparently dissatisfied with the pace of work, Wike urged the contractor to accelerate efforts, assuring that the necessary funds would be provided to support timely delivery.

Responding to questions from journalists about the likelihood of meeting the September deadline, the Minister expressed concern.

“I am afraid, very afraid,” he stated. “But the contractor has assured me that we will achieve it.”

Reacting to the contractor’s appeal for more funds, Wike emphasized that the term was vague and insisted that financial support had already been pledged.

“What do you mean by enough funds?” he asked. “Because no funds can ever be enough. You promised me that this job would be completed by September, and I told you that you will be paid by next week. You confirmed that you would deliver. So, I don’t want to hear the grammar of ‘enough funds’.”

The Minister was accompanied on the inspection by the Executive Secretary of the FCDA, Richard Yunana Dauda, and other senior officials of the FCTA.
