FRSC Boss Cautions Staff Against Bribery, Corruption

The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC, Mallam Shehu Mohammed has vowed to deal ruthlessly with any officer engaged in bribery, corruption, negligence and consumption of illicit drugs as well as incivility to the motoring public.

Addressing a strategic session with Commanding officers across the the Federation and FCT at the FRSC headquarters Abuja, the Corps Marshal directed the senior officers to put more efforts in managing behavioral threats affecting their productivity and public perception.

According to him, reports reveal that the challenges of enforcement operations due to patrol misconduct, rising cases of indiscipline are some of the factors affecting internal administrative control and impacting negatively on FRSC performance.

He urged the commanding officers to use the strategic session to find solutions in line with FRSC’s commitment to reposition the Corps for effective traffic management in the country.

Mallam Shehu Mohammed further tasked them to be deliberate in taking measures designed to key into the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President to improve the welfare of Nigerians through safer highways .

Secretary to the Government of the federation, George Akume represented by the permanent secretary, General Services Sanisi Danjuma reiterated the Federal Government’s continued support towards enhancing the efficiency of FRSC.

The SGF urged officers and men to redouble their efforts in reducing Road accidents in the country.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau and the Federal Road Safety Corps have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance the investigation of road crash scenes.

The Director General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, Captain Alex Badeh Junior said the new partnership would enable the two Federal Government Agencies to share information to ensure that the highway is safe.

The Strategic Session with the theme: Driving Change From Within : Reinforcing Integrity, Accountability and Performance was chosen to meet the FRSC management’s desire to drive change from within by harnessing the efforts of both officers and men including special marshals and other critical stakeholders.
