Buhari A Forthright Result-driven Leader – Buratai

todayJuly 15, 2025

Background

Late President Muhammadu Buhari has been described as a forthright and result-driven Commander-in-Chief who proved that Nigeria could be governed effectively, even in the face of daunting national challenges.

The former Chief of Army Staff, retired Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai made this submission while speaking to newsmen in Katsina, the late president’s home state.

Lieutenant General Buratai extolled late President Buhari’s unwavering commitment to national security, particularly his efforts in the fight against terrorism and insurgency.

General Buratai, who was appointed Army Chief in 2015 by President Buhari, noted that the late leader’s clarity of purpose and no-nonsense approach were instrumental in shaping the Nigerian military’s tempo and strategy during one of Nigeria’s most difficult periods.

General Buratai also commended the Federal Government for declaring a seven-day national mourning period, calling it a worthy tribute to a man who devoted his life to the service of the nation.

The former Army Chief, alongside other high-ranking officials, are currently in Katsina to receive the remains of President Buhari ahead of his final internment in his hometown.
