President Tinubu Commissions Dakibiyu Rd, Reaffirms Commitment To Inclusive Development

todayJuly 1, 2025

Background

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned the newly constructed collector road, CN8 (Asuquo Okon Street), linking Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) to Arterial Road N1, along with other connecting roads in the Dakibiyu District.

During the ceremony in Abuja, President Tinubu, who was represented by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, assured Nigerians that the present administration is committed to building an equitable and inclusive Nigeria.

“Infrastructure, after all, is not just about concrete and steel. It is the most persuasive advertisement of leadership, of order, and of vision.

“That is why today’s occasion is not just about commissioning a road. It is a grand reassurance that cities must work for their people and that a functioning capital is the foundation upon which a functioning nation is built.

“These roads are a bold signature of our commitment to urban renewal and economic revitalization. For too long, inadequate infrastructure has choked the aspirations of these areas. Today, we tear down that wall. Today, we breathe life into communities long waiting to be seen, long waiting to be served.

“This is what we mean when we speak of Renewed Hope, not lofty rhetoric, but practical impact; not policy for the sake of politics, but policy translated into progress,” Tinubu stated.

President Tinubu also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Nyesom Wike, for his purposeful leadership in addressing the long-standing infrastructural deficits within the territory.

“I must, at this point, pay tribute to the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, whose sense of urgency in the execution of these projects is well known to Nigerians. We thank you and your entire team at the FCTA for this outstanding work,”.

On his part, the FCT Minister, Dr. Nyesom Wike, thanked President Tinubu and the National Assembly for their continued support and approval of landmark projects aimed at improving the lives of citizens.

“Through the Federal Executive Council, by your support, this contract was awarded in September last year, and we flagged it off in October. Today, we are commissioning it,” Wike noted.

In her remarks, the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, aligned herself with the views expressed by the FCT Minister, noting that the Renewed Hope Agenda continues to bring tangible transformation to the landscape of the Federal Capital Territory.

She expressed hope that the new road network would ease movement, enhance connectivity, and stimulate further social and economic development within this rapidly growing area.
