The awards of excellence were presented by the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Zaria chapter, in collaboration with the Local Government Education Authority and the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
The ceremony was part of the activities marking the Speaker’s two-year anniversary in office, tagged Iya Day, in line with his traditional title, Iyan Zazzau.
President Tinubu’s award was received on his behalf by the Minister of State for Regional Development, Alhaji Uba Maigari Ahmadu, while the Speaker personally received his award and expressed appreciation to the bodies for the recognition.

He emphasized that without President Tinubu’s support, the Zaria Federal Constituency would not be enjoying the current level of democratic dividends.
The Minister commended the Speaker’s efforts and revealed plans by the ministry to upgrade selected schools across the constituency to promote leadership development among students.
In a related gesture, Dr Abbas announced the setup of an educational fund to support teachers who wish to further their studies.
To improve school mobility, the Speaker distributed 116 motorcycles to Head Teachers and pledged an additional 500 motorcycles for classroom teachers.
