The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has extended warm congratulations to Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, following the Court of Appeal’s judgment which affirmed his election in the September 2024 gubernatorial poll.
In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike described the court’s ruling as a further affirmation of the mandate genuinely entrusted to Governor Okpebholo by the people of Edo State.
The FCT Minister commended Governor Okpebholo’s performance since assuming office, expressing confidence in his leadership.
“I have observed his governance style and I must say he has been making significant strides in delivering good governance to the people of Edo State,” Wike noted.
He called on the governor to remain steadfast and focused on delivering democratic dividends and sustaining the progress being made across the state.
“For me, I believe in him, and I am confident that his government will leave a lasting, positive impact on Edo State,” he added.
Wike also appealed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asuerime Ighodalo, to accept the outcome of the judgment in good faith by prioritizing the collective interest of the state and allow the electoral dust to settle peacefully.
“This is a time for unity, not division. Edo State must move forward, and that requires all hands on deck,” the Minister said.
