Background

The Minister in charge of First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada Abuja, Reverend Deji Oyelami has advised Christian Children to always be good ambassadors of Christ and their families.

Reverend Deji Oyelami gave the advice in his sermon titled “Disciplined Lifestyle In Fasting and Prayer” during the Church’s Annual Children Day Special Service in Gwagwalada Abuja.

The Baptist Cleric, who described children as the hope and future of any country also enjoined them to be committed to their studies towards securing a better tomorrow.

He equally stressed the need for the children to shun immoral acts and bad peer group to enable the promises of God to come to pass in their lives.

While equally calling on them to be obedient to the commandments of God, Reverend Deji Oyelami emphasized the need for parents to always live a life worthy of emulation by their children.

He added that the Church would continue to embark on programmes that would make the children to be committed to the service of God and humanity.

Also speaking, the Adviser of the Church’s Children Church Wing, Mrs Naomi Adelabu said the Children’s Day Special Service was to keep them abreast in the service of God through sound doctrine in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Mrs Naomi Adelabu stated that the Annual Children’s Day Special Service was also in accordance with the directive of the Nigerian Baptist Convention.

She therefore advised Children not to deviate from the various teachings they have heard towards becoming better christians that would contribute their quota to the betterment of society.

Some of the children, Wuraola Ayoola and Philemon Mobolaji, expressed gratitude to God for giving them the grace to witness the day.

While felicitating with their peers on the day, they prayed God for divine wisdom, knowledge and understanding to succeed in their studies and all endeavours in life.

Highpoint of the Special Children’s Service was a talk show, songs, bible memory verse, and special prayers for the children.
