Bayelsa Queens extended their unbeaten run in the 2024/25 NWFL Premiership season following a 1-1 draw against Nasarawa Amazons on Matchday Two of the Super Six Playoffs at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, on Monday May 12, 2025.
In a highly contested encounter between former league champions, second-half goals from Janet Akekeromowei and Dooshima Tarnum ensured both teams settled for a share of the spoils in their bid for the league crown.
Bayelsa Queens defender Jennifer Oliver broke the deadlock in the 56th minute. The referee sent her off for handling a goal-bound effort inside the box.

Akekeromowei stepped up and calmly slotted home the resulting penalty to put Nasarawa Amazons ahead.
Bayelsa Queens rallied and equalised just six minutes after a player was sent off, reducing them to 10.
Substitute Dooshima Tarnum made an instant impact, scoring against her former club to level the tie.
With the result, Nasarawa Amazons moved to second place on the Super Six standings with four points from two matches, while Bayelsa Queens also have four points but sit third due to goal difference.
Elsewhere, defending champions Edo Queens FC battled to a 1-1 draw with Rivers Angels as the 2024 champions took the lead in the 26th minute.
Emem Essien capitalized on a rebound from Rivers Angels’ goalkeeper, slotting the ball into the net to give her side the advantage.
However, Rivers Angels responded in the 38th minute courtesy of a gift from Valentina Uroko, who mistakenly turned the ball into her net, beating her goalkeeper Morufa Ademola.
Finally, Remo Stars Ladies continued their blistering form at the Super Six Playoffs, edging Naija Ratels 1-0 in a gritty encounter in Ikenne.
Bolaji Olamide’s 14th-minute strike proved decisive as the Ogun-based side held firm to secure back-to-back victories and climb to six points from two matches.
Though Naija Ratels registered more shots overall—eight off target and none on target—the Remo Stars Ladies were more clinical and better organized.
