HOR : Labour Party Members Reject Suspension By Abure

todayMay 9, 2025

Background

Three Labour Party members of the House of Representatives, have dismissed their purported suspension from the party by former National Chairman Julius Abure.

The Former Chairman who was ousted by a recent Supreme Court judgment, announced the suspension of Afam Victor Ogene, leader of the labour Party Caucus, Seyi Sowunmi Deputy Leader and Amobi Ogah, a prominent member of the Caucus.

Abure also announced the suspension of Abia State Governor Alex Otto, Senator Ireti Kingibe and Senator Darlington Nwokocha.

In a joint statement in Abuja, the Lawmakers described the suspension as “laughable” and am desperate attempt by Abure to cling to power after being ousted by a recent Supreme Court judgment.

The lawmakers accused Abure of orchestrating the party’s disintegration to appease external forces driving his actions instead of working to improve the fortunes of the party.
