” It will amount to failure on your part if inmates go back to criminality after serving their terms, you must lead from the front with great ideas.

“The onions are now on you to design and implement strategies for the inmates to add value to the socio-economic development of Nigeria. Do not disappoint Mr. President, do not disappoint me, do not disappoint Nigeria, and most importantly, do not disappoint God. ”

The Permanent Secretary in the ministry Dr Magdalene Ajani called on the CG to ensure positive transformation in the Nigeria Correctional Service.

The Senator representing Imo West at the National Assembly Osita Izunaso, who described the newly decorated Controller General as a man of few words, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the honour given to his constituency with the appointment .

The newly decorated Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche expressed his heartfelt gratitude to President Tinubu and the Minister of Interior Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for believing in his capacity and gave assurance that he will justify the confidence reposed in him.

” First , I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to his Excellency, the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for appointing me to serve in this capacity, I am equally grateful to the distinguished members of the Nigerian Senate for their kind confirmation. I wish to especially thank the Honourable Minister of Interior and Chairman of CDCFIB, Honourable Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for recommending me to Mr President for this appointment. Sir your belief in my capacity and readiness to lead the Nigeria Correctional Service is not out of place, I want to assure you that by the grace of God I will justify the confidence reposed in me by delivering results that align with your reform- driven vision for the service “.

The CG noted that his administration would be anchored on seven core pillars that reflect both urgency and long-term transformation.

The newly decorated Controller General of Corrections Sylvester Nwakuche who was appointed on December 16 to lead the service on acting capacity was later made the 3rd substantive Controller General of Corrections by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and confirmed by the Senate.
