The Head of Service of the Federation, HOSF, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, has revealed plans to host a two-day international Civil Service Conference targeted at boosting the efficiency of Nigeria’s workforce in June this year.
Walson-Jack made this known when she received a delegation of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, FCT Chapter, in Abuja, led by the Chairperson, Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang.
She explained that the two-day event, will commemorate the Civil Service Week and successful implementation of the Federal Civil Service Strategy Implementation Plan (FCSSIP 2021–2025) document.
She hinted that the conference is expected to attract over 5,000 participants from across the country, drawn from public and private sectors.
Walson-Jack noted that the conference will focus on the six pillars of FCSSIP 2021–2025: building capacity, performance management, IPPIS Human Resource, exploring organization content services, enhancing and exhibiting service delivery, and networking.
She expressed her willingness to partner NAWOJ FCT Chapter, even as she sought the support of the Association in giving the proposed event the needed publicity.

“We know we cannot do it without you, because whenever we want the citizenry to know what we are doing, we believe you will be there to support us, to disseminate the information.”
“In June, when we will celebrate our Civil Service Week, which we do every year, we are introducing an international Civil Service Conference. This conference will bring speakers and participants from all over the globe; including the different Heads of Civil Service of the 36 States and the FCT, and their staff.”
“We will be looking at information, exchange of ideas, knowledge sharing, networking, and of course, there will be an exhibition where the different entities can exhibit their products and services. The conference will take place June 25th/26th and we are expecting 5000 participants.”
Responding to the request for women journalists’ training, Mrs. Walson-Jack said, “The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation is the Federal Government Agency for the training of Civil Servants. So, training is our field. But I can assure you that we will look into your request and we will see how we can support you in whatever way we can.”
Earlier, FCT NAWOJ Chairperson, Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang, who congratulated Mrs. Walson-Jack on her appointment, describing her as a beacon of excellence for women in leadership, sought partnership with the HOSF and presented a proposal for a female journalists’ training tagged “Workplace Diversification: Advancing Women Journalists’ Role in the Newsroom.”
