Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Federal Capital Territory, FCT Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike has called for greater press freedom and better working conditions for journalists as Nigeria joins the world to commemorate International Workers’ Day.
In a Congratulatory message in Abuja, she highlights the struggles workers, especially journalists face due to economic hardship and job insecurity, emphasizing the media’s vital role in democracy.
Comrade Ike urged journalists to speak out, hold leaders accountable, and protect vulnerable voices, while defending press freedom and pushing back against censorship.
She also called on the government, employers, and civil society to support workers by creating better working environment.
