The National Assembly is set to host a major international conference on renewable energy, aimed at transforming the country’s energy sector.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja, the Chairman of the House Committee on Renewable Energy, Mr Afam Ogene noted that the conference, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, will bring together key stakeholders, industry experts and lawmakers from across Africa to discuss ways to harness renewable energy.
“The event aims to promote dialogue and knowledge sharing on renewable energy legislation, investment and development.
According to the lawmaker, it is expected to propose new policies and reforms to boost the use of renewable energy in Nigeria, and provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss challenges and opportunities in the renewable energy sector.”
“The conference will focus on developing a national legislative framework on renewable energy, and will explore ways to increase private and public sector investment in renewables”.
“With Nigeria’s vast renewable energy potential, the conference is expected to be a significant step towards harnessing these resources to drive economic growth and sustainable development”.
“The event will feature discussions on critical legislative priorities, regulatory frameworks, and global best practices to accelerate renewable energy adoption in Nigeria.
