Over 13,000 PDP Members Defect To APC In Umunneochi LG

Thousands of opposition PDP members in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State have defected to the ruling APC ahead of 2027 elections.

The defectors, led by influential businessman Chris Odinaka Igwe, cited the APC’s visionary leadership and impactful legislative work, particularly the establishment of the South East Development Commission, SEDC, were reasons for joining the party.

Over 13,000 followers, including 27 PDP ward chairmen, joined Igwe in defecting to the APC.

Speaking at the reception held in Isiochi, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu welcomed the defectors, saying they would automatically become members of the Renewed Hope Partners, a structure supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection bid.
