The Nigeria National League (NNL) has taken decisive action, officially expelling 1472 Football Club of Lagos from the ongoing 2024/2025 season due to consistent breaches of league regulations.
The NNL stated that 1472 FC failed to adhere to Article 14:11 of its codified rules, which outlines penalties for clubs failing to honour scheduled fixtures. The Lagos-based club was found culpable of not appearing for three separate matches within Conference A, compelling the league to enforce the applicable disciplinary measures.

Further matches that 1472 FC failed to attend include encounters with Abia Comets FC and Dakkada FC of Uyo.
In addition to their expulsion from the league, 1472 FC has been penalized with a substantial fine of Five Million Naira (₦5,000,000) for their failure to honour Match 15, marking their third instance of default.
NNL Chief Operating Officer, Danlami Alanana, conveyed his dismay regarding the club’s unprofessional behaviour. Speaking to NNL Media.
““It is an embarrassing situation. Their action is simply a breach of the rule book and we have to apply the rules to the letter. It is unfortunate that despite several warnings, 1472 just wouldn’t heed.
“We must avoid any action that will drag the NNL into the mud.”
As a consequence of this ruling, all past and future matches involving 1472 FC have been declared null and void. Any points previously awarded to or deducted from teams based on their results against 1472 FC have been reversed, resulting in an updated NNL Conference A league table effective from Match Day 16.
This stringent disciplinary action underscores the NNL’s unwavering dedication to maintaining professionalism and safeguarding the integrity of Nigerian football.
