todayApril 30, 2025

Background

The Federal Government has urged relevant stakeholders to partner the Civil Service by contributing innovative ideas, providing essential resources, and supporting the creation of a mutually beneficial public-private innovation ecosystem aimed at driving national development.

The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, made this call in Abuja during the award ceremony for the fifth edition of the Federal Public Service Innovation Competition.

Mrs. Walson-Jack stated that institutionalizing a competition of this nature is aimed at directly strengthening a fundamental pillar critical to building a future-ready and globally competitive Civil Service.

She reaffirmed that innovation is not just a strategy; but the core of the transformation agenda for the Federal Civil Service.

While explaining that the fifth edition of the competition was anchored on four dynamic themes reflecting the evolving nature of governance and public expectations, she emphasized the need to focus on digitization and the simplification of administrative bottlenecks.

Mrs. Walson-Jack also stressed the need to build a future-ready workforce through mentoring and succession planning, as well as redefining employee engagement.

She commended all the contestants who came forward with bold ideas and creative solutions, encouraging them to continue refining their ideas, stay engaged, and remain champions of innovation.

One of the recipients, Nusrah Wali, who spoke on behalf of the others, said their ideas were designed to help civil servants reduce the cost of living through innovative means.

The first-place winner was awarded a prize of five million Naira, while the first and second runners-up received three million naira and two million naira each.

Consolation prizes of N200,000.00 each were also given to other ten top performers.
