Anglican Church To Empower 20 Thousand Youths

Over twenty thousand Anglican youths have converged in Abuja for a five day empowerment and spiritual program aimed at renewing their hope and preparing them to resist social vices and navigate current global economic challenges.

Primate of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, while declaring the program open in Abuja, said Nigerian youths are weighed down by unemployment, corruption, insecurity, and moral decay.

He emphasized the need for religious institutions to rise to the occasion, restore hope among Nigerian youths, and help them become good ambassadors wherever they find themselves.

The Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba announced that the Church is providing five billion naira to support youth skill development programs, infrastructure, and career advancement in the digital economy, sports, arts, and entertainment.

According to him, 1,932 young people have been enrolled in the University of Jos skill development program and other tertiary institutions to undertake certificate courses, enabling them to contribute to the country’s socioeconomic development.

He urged the youths to extend hands of reconciliation, uphold righteousness in the face of corruption, and shun vices that could jeopardize their future.

In his message, the immediate past Primate of the Church, Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh, emphasized the need for Anglican youths to reach out to young people of other faiths and actively participate in the nation’s political process.

According to him, good governance can only happen when righteous individuals take part in policy-making and assume leadership roles in national affairs.

Representatives from the African Development Bank, Christian communities in Singapore and Uganda, in their separate messages, urged youths to develop themselves in order to participate effectively in the global economy.

The program with the theme “Ambassadors for Christ,” is a movement aimed at empowering the next generation for strategic engagement and global outreach.
