Rivers Sole Administrator Appears Before House Committee, Pledges Support

The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok Ette-Ibas Retired, has appeared before an ad-hoc committee of the House of Representatives on Rivers State Oversight to discuss the state’s affairs.

Addressing the committee, he expressed his commitment to cooperate fully and provide relevant information to support the committee’s work.

The Sole Administrator also apologized for missing earlier invitations, citing urgent engagements aimed at stabilizing the state.

The Chairman of the Committee, Professor Julius Ihonvbere, emphasized the constitutional role of the National Assembly in legitimizing and overseeing the state of emergency declared in Rivers State.

He cited Section 11(4) of the Constitution, which empowers the National Assembly to assume the legislative functions of a state assembly when it is unable to function.

The House Leader reaffirmed the House’s commitment to carrying out its duties with diligence, transparency, and strict adherence to the Constitution.
