Ogbonnaya’s Legacy Can Never Be Forgotten – Speaker

The speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Tajudeen Abbas says the significant role the late Minister of Science and Technology Dr. Ogbonnaya Onuh has played to nation building can never be erased.

Tajudeen Abbas, who was represented by the deputy speaker, Dr. Benjamin Kalu stated this in Abuja, at the one year memorial lecture in honour of Late Dr Ogbonnaya Onuh.

The keynote speaker, said the late Icon has played pivotal roles in the advancement of science, technology and innovation through his wealth of experience impacting positively on the lives of millions of Nigerians in the sector and beyond.

“I feel proud and honoured to stand before this distinguished gathering to deliver this memorial lecture in honour of a man who without any doubt was a collosist of intellect, politics, academics and good governance whose last words at the APC congress primaries in 2022 still rings in my head”.

“Where is the justice? Where is the justice? Where is the justice?
For me, this portrays his personality as a man of justice, equity, good conscience and inclusivity for his people.

On his part, the former Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige described the Late Dr Ogbonnaya Onuh as a man of principle, discipline who has contributed immensely to the political structure of the South Eastern part of the country and Nigeria at large.

“I first met Ogbonnaya Onuh between 1990/1991 when he was aspiring to be governor of Abia State, when he came to see our Igbo club, ‘Ikemga” in Lagos and after delivering his speech on his ambition and forecast for the new state everyone at the meeting said this man is a material that is even more than a gold” he added.

Earlier, the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Chioma Oti, explained that the Late Dr. Ogbonnaya Onuh was a well-known nationalist philanthropist who positively impacted on Abia State as former governor, especially in education and other innovations enjoyed by the state today.

Also speaking, the Ebonyi State Governor Dr Ogbonna Nwifuru described the Late Dr Ogbonnaya Onuh as a leader per excellence full of creative ideas whose wealth of experience has changed the narrative by transforming analogue to digital in the science and technology space been enjoyed today.

On her part, the wife of the deceased, Dr Mrs Chinyere Onuh described her late husband as an unbiased, wonderful father to all who had impacted significantly on the lives of people expecially through his foundation catering for the needs of the less privileged in the country.

In a closing remark, the former Senate president, Ayim Pius Ayim commended all the speakers for their good will messages and enjoined the political class and well-meaning Nigerians to live a life worthy of emulation to foster unity, peace and progress of the country for national development .
