Wike Leads Eid-el-Fitr Homage To Tinubu, Hails His Leadership Style

todayMarch 30, 2025

Background

In the spirit of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr Nyesom Wike led a high-powered delegation to pay homage to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The visit marked a historic occasion as it was the first time the FCT leadership and residents extended their Eid greetings in person to the President.

The visit came amidst widespread rumours that Wike had collapsed at a meeting on Friday and was flown to France for urgent medical attention.

However, the minister’s presence alongside Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohamed Idris, and other prominent FCT indigenes dispelled the speculation.

Wike had, on Friday afternoon, received the leadership of the Body of Benchers and thereafter went on an extensive inspection of several ongoing projects in the FCT until 5 p.m, debunking any claims of a health emergency.

In his remarks, Wike congratulated President Tinubu and the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of the 30-day Ramadan fast, acknowledging the spiritual significance of patience, sacrifice, self-discipline, and devotion to Almighty Allah.

He emphasized the importance of compassion, generosity, and unity, as
values that continue to shape the Nigerian identity.

Dr Wike reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, pledging continued support and cooperation to ensure the success of the President’s policies and programmes.

The FCT Minister expressed profound gratitude for the President’s support for development of the FCT, particularly his approval of key initiatives such as the exit of the FCTA from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), the creation of the FCT Civil Service Commission, and the establishment of Mandate Secretariats for Women and Youths.

These reforms, he noted, have significantly enhanced governance efficiency and improved service delivery in the territory.

Highlighting the diversity of the FCT, Wike noted that the delegation included representatives from various sectors, including religious, political, and traditional leaders, security agencies, officials of the FCT Administration, media personnel, and ordinary residents.

He emphasized that despite their different backgrounds, all were united in their unwavering support for President Tinubu’s administration and its developmental goals.

He hinted that some projects were set for commissioning ahead of the administration’s second anniversary, saying the projects will further enhance infrastructure, economic opportunities, and the overall quality of life in the FCT.

“As we approach the second anniversary of your administration, we are excited about the array of impactful projects that we have lined up for commissioning.”

Wike extended warm Eid-el-Fitr wishes to President Tinubu and the entire nation, praying for continued peace, prosperity, and progress in Nigeria.
