FCT Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Olusola Odumosu has called for renewed synergy between the Corps and the FCT Magistrate court.
This is in a bid to sustain the tempo in the fight against vandalism of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure and speedy prosecution of the growing number of arrested suspects.
The NSCDC FCT Commandant Olusola Odumosu made the call when he led his management team on a courtesy visit to the FCT Chief Magistrate, Elizabeth Jones Wonni, In her office qin Abuja.
Odumosu expressed appreciation to the FCT Chief Magistrate, for her invaluable support and the cooperation that FCT Command is getting in terms of timely responses to its applications and speedy attention to cases which has aided seamless prosecution of suspected criminals.
“Our crackdown on Vandals of Critical infrastructure and Assets in the FCT has led to a growing number of arrests of saboteurs of government efforts in the provision of democratic dividends.
“Your timely responses to our filed applications and cases has in no small measure helped us to decongest our detention facility and guard against infringement on fundamental human rights of suspects,” the Commandant said.
He further solicited renewed collaboration and closer ties with the management of the court for speedy dispensation of pending cases to avoid over stretching the Command’s detention facility, and to make the legal processes less tedious and less difficult for the Command.
The FCT Commandant also assured of his preparedness to cooperate with the FCT Chief Magistrate and the entire Magistrate court in the provision of security and protection of their facilities at all times.
Responding, Elizabeth Jones Wonni, of the FCT magistrate court, acknowledged the efforts of the NSCDC FCT Command in ridding the capital territory of criminal elements especially, the Vandals of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.
Mrs Jones Wonni assured the commandant of her willingness and that of her colleagues to assist the Corps to continue to fulfill her mandate and offer quality services to the government and all FCT residents.
She promised sustainance of the existing relationship by ensuring that cases from the Command continue to enjoy quick attention .
