House Approves PBAT’s Declaration Of State Of Emergency In Rivers

The House of Representatives has approved President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.

The house approved the President’s proclamation following a brief debate and amendments to the motion moved by the House leader, Prof Julius Ihonvbere.

The Plenary presided over by the Speaker of the house, Dr Abbass Tajudeen had in attendance 243 members.

President Tinubu, in a nationwide broadcast had declared a six-month state of emergency in .Rivers State

The declaration also included the suspension of Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, his deputy Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly.

Additionally, President Tinubu nominated Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) as an administrator to oversee the state’s affairs during the emergency period.
