Two lawmakers from the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP, have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, citing internal divisions within their former party.
Member representing Suleja, Gurara, Tafa Federal Constituency of Niger State,
Adamu Tanko
and member representing Igabi Federal Constituency of Kaduna, Jallo Husseini Mohammed, announced their defection in a letter read on the House floor by the Speaker of the house of representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas.
The lawmakers stated that their political ideologies now align more closely with those of the APC, adding to a growing wave of defections in the 10th House of Representatives.
Over ten lawmakers have left their original parties to join the APC since the House’s inauguration.
This development reflects the evolving political landscape in Nigeria, where party loyalty and ideological alignment are increasingly influential in shaping legislative dynamics.
