The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has inaugurated the Election Project Plan Committee to create a strategic framework for the successful conduct of the 2027 general election.
This initiative aims to prepare the electoral body well in advance of the elections.
At the committee’s inaugural meeting in Abuja, Professor Rhoda Gumus, the chairperson, urged members to develop a roadmap that would ensure a smooth electoral process.
Professor Gumus expressed her appreciation for the committee members and emphasized the importance of early planning to achieve successful elections.
She highlighted the need for members to be dedicated and to execute their responsibilities diligently to maintain electoral integrity and transparency.
The committee is tasked with reviewing the Terms of Reference, developing a work plan, establishing subcommittees, designing an Elections Project Plan (EPP) template, and setting submission timelines for planning documents.
The inauguration of the Election Project Plan Committee (EPPC) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is a standard practice in Nigeria’s electoral process.
Historically, INEC has constituted similar committees for previous elections. For instance, an EPPC was inaugurated in June 2021 to oversee the strategic framework for the 2023 general election.
