As part of activities to mark this year’s International Women’s Day
cash donations, wrappers, and food items have been distributed to vegetable sellers at Garki market, Abuja..
The convener of the programme, Beatrice Anuchuna, said the gesture was aimed at encouraging the women in their businesses and helping reduce the number of street children by providing income to support their children’s education.
According to her, women engaged in small-scale businesses are less likely to indulge in vices that are detrimental to national development.
“This petty trading they are doing, it takes a lot, and it’s at the core mandate of what we do at Family Rebuiders, we render services.”
“They sacrifice their time, some of them wake at three to source for vegetables to sell. In commemoration of International Women’s Day, we are here to say, “Well done, Garki market women weldone the vegetable sellers, using your finances to train your children.”
Some women who spoke at the occasion appreciated the organization and said the support boosted their morale and would go a long way to grow their businesses.
The women urged well-meaning Nigerians to introduce initiatives that would assist the less privileged in society.
