A former member of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the House of Representatives, Ossai Nicolas Ossai has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Ossai, who represented Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in Delta State, cited the ongoing turmoil within the PDP as the reason for his defection.
Addressing parliamentary reporters, the lawmaker explained that attempts to restore unity in the party had failed due to deep-seated ideological and political conflicts.
He praised President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, saying he is a man with focus who wants to navigate Nigeria into a better future.
Ossai noted that APC’s policies align with his own, particularly in areas such as infrastructure development and agriculture.
Ossai’s defection is the latest in a series of departures from the PDP, which has been plagued by alleged internal conflicts.
The APC has welcomed several high-profile defectors in recent months, bolstering its position as the ruling party.
