The House Committee on Public Petitions has summoned the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, Richard Dauda, and the Director of Development Control, Galadima Muktar, to appear before it on Tuesday.
The summon follows a petition by Samuel Ajayi, a private citizen who alleged that a property under construction in the Guzape Cadastral zone is violating building codes of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Ajayi claimed that allowing the project to continue would undermine the FCT master plan.
Committee Chairman Mike Etaba, therefore, directed the FCDA officials to appear before the committee to address the allegations.
“Every Nigerian’s voice must be heard, and all public officers must be held accountable,” Etaba said.
In a separate development, the committee has also summoned the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC to appear on Tuesday.
The NDDC chief is expected to explain the circumstances surrounding an abandoned contract for the construction of Okpai shoreline protection and landing jetty in Delta State.
The contract was awarded to Orbit Marine and Energy Services Ltd, but the project was allegedly abandoned, prompting a petition by Lynpat Solicitors.
Etaba warned that if the NDDC Managing Director failed to appear, the committee would take further action.
