NNPC Commits To Nat’l Devt, Corporate Social Responsibility

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC Ltd, has reaffirmed its dedication to harnessing the country’s oil resources to drive economic growth, industrialization, and social progress.

At a stakeholder engagement organized for the National Assembly Press Corps, NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye highlighted the corporation’s contributions to national development,
Including its corporate social responsibility initiatives.

According to him, the corporation’s foundation has conducted 1,000 free cataract surgeries in the Southwest, restoring sight to dozens of individuals.

Additional surgeries are planned in the North, Southeast, and South-South regions.

“I’m glad to have you here again at this stakeholder engagement proudly sponsored by NNPC.”

“It is truly heartwarming to see how it has brought us together. At NNPC, we believe in fueling not just vehicles but also meaningful moments like this. Tonight is another night that NNPCL will successfully power laughter and great partnerships,” he said.

“NNPC is also collaborating with Afrexim bank to establish the African Medical Centre of Excellence, a 500-bed hospital specializing in oncology, haematology, cardiology, and advanced medical training for Nigerians, Soneye said.”

The Corporate Communications Officer said the corporation’s medical hospital in Abuja has provided critical care to over 122,000 patients in 2024, offering essential medical services such as radiology, physiotherapy, and maternity care.

He further stated that NNPC remains committed to ensuring energy accessibility, economic stability, and fostering global partnerships that will strengthen the oil industry for the benefit of Nigerians.

Speaking on patriotism, a motivational speaker, Fela Durotoye, urged journalists to prioritize the country’s interests in their reporting, emphasizing the importance of balanced and objective reporting.

He encouraged journalists to take pride in their role as gatekeepers of information and to use their platforms to promote national unity and development.
