The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas,
Tajudeen has distributed Ramadan palliatives to 1,833 primary school teachers and donated 116 motorcycles to headmasters and headmistresses in his Zaria Federal Constituency, Kaduna State.
The motorcycles are intended to ease transportation challenges for the beneficiaries, enabling them to commute more easily to their workplaces.
During the distribution in Zaria, Dr. Abbas pledged to extend similar support to other public primary school teachers in the constituency before the end of his tenure.
Reflecting on his personal experience as a former primary school teacher, the Speaker emphasised his deep understanding of the challenges faced by educators.
“I am a living witness, having taught at different primary schools within Zaria for six years while studying for my diploma and degree programs in the 1980s.”
I know what teachers go through because I had firsthand experience, even in those days when things were better. Most of the time, a teacher’s salary could barely last two weeks. There were periods when they would take loans, and lenders would be present during salary payments to collect their dues immediately.“
Dr. Abbas also commended Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for his continuous support and collaboration, noting the excellent working relationship between them.
