As part of measures to reduce court cases among communities and rural dwellers, the Federal Capital Territory Public Complaints Commission, PCC , has commenced enlightenment campaigns to Palaces of Traditional Rulers in Bwari Area Council of the Territory.
Speaking during the exercise at the Palace of the Sarkin Bwari, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Awwal Musa Ijakoro, the Commissioner, FCT Public Complaints Commission, Musa Dikko expressed concern over numerous litigations among communities most especially between farmers and herders.
Musa Dikko therefore advised community leaders to embrace the services of PCC and avoid unnecessary conflicts to ensure peaceful resolution and justice for everyone.
“Our primary essence of visiting traditional institutions particularly palaces of traditional rulers in Bwari is to create more awareness within their domain to understand the mandate of the Public Complaints Commission and the relationship with traditional institutions and other Nigerians”
“It is also to enlighten them on their roles towards conflict resolution among their subjects and communities most especially as it relates to land issues in the Federal Capital Territory where Government’s developmental projects are currently being carried out because some of their subjects are not aware of these developmental processes, on the need to embrace peaceful resolution of all issues towards enhancing growth and development in the nation’s capital,”
Also speaking at the Palace of Etsu Bwari, Mr Ibrahim Yaro, the FCT Commissioner of Public Complaints Commission who described the Commission as the oldest anti corruption Agency in the country stressed the need for the traditional rulers to always sensitize their subjects on the need to avoid court cases and report all grievances to the PCC.

“The National Assembly has mandated the PCC to attend promptly and initiate cases even on behalf of the people to reduce numbers of litigations we have all over the country and the only way we can reduce that is when the people know the existence of Public Complaints Commission and its roles therefore I urge them to always approach the Commission in their various Local Governments, Communities and States promptly to see how we can resolve whatever issue that is coming among them , “Musa Dikko added.
In their separate remarks, the Sarkin Bwari, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Awwal Musa Ijakoro and Etsu Bwari, His Royal Highness Ibrahim Yaro commended the leadership qualities of Mr Musa Dikko since assumption of office as the Commissioner representing the FCT in the Commission.
They particularly expressed satisfaction with the resolution of over four thousand complains out of the eight thousand complains the FCT Public Complaints Commission has received from indigenes and residents of the Territory in the last one year.
The Traditional Rulers therefore advised Mr Musa Dikko to keep the flag flying and continue to embark on programmes that would further contribute to the growth and progress of the territory.
