The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) says vacant top management positions in the four paramilitary services will be filled by the end of March 2025.
Speaking to newsmen after the board’s meeting in Abuja, the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo represented by the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Abdulganiyu Jaji stated that several services lack Deputy Controller Generals (DCGs) and Assistant Controller Generals (ACGs), leading to officers covering duties without formal appointments.
” In some of the services, they are just covering duties, which is not expected. So as a result of that the Board decided that these positions will be filled from Monday 9th March. That is when the accreditation of officers will take place, 9th of March to 11th of March “.
” By end of March, that exercise should have been completed. That is the decision of the Board for the position of Deputy Controller Generals in four services and Assistant Controller Generals”.
The Minister explained that candidates would undergo a structured selection process, including screening, written exams, and oral interviews stressing that the selection process would be conducted fairly and in line with the federal character principle.
He announced that the board has also approved a handbook to guide its operations. “An approval for the handbook will be given soon, after which it will be circulated to all services and made public.
