Deliver On Your Mandate-Speaker Tasks NWDC

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajudeen, has charged the pioneer board of the North West Development Commission, NWDC, to deliver on their mandate, as the entire region will closely monitor their progress.

Dr Abbas who gave the charge in Abuja when the NWDC board led by the Chairman Suleiman Abdullahi paid him a visit in Abuja, assures them of the full support of the National Assembly to deliver on their mandate

“We have high expectations for the commission’s performance, and the lawmakers will be keeping a close eye on their progress.

In a statement in Abuja by his Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Musa Abdullahi, the Speaker describes the meeting as historic, reiterating the National Assembly’s commitment to supporting the commission.

“We will do everything humanly possible to ensure that it succeeds,” he said.

Dr Abbas notes that the North West region faces numerous challenges, including insurgency, banditry, unemployment, and drug-related issues.

He emphasizes that the commission’s role is to intervene and identify critical gaps in the region.

Chairman of the NWDC board, Suleiman Abdullahi Yakawada, assured the Speaker that the board would not disappoint him.

“We will meet the demands and expectations for the creation of the commission,” Yakawada said.

“We will be accountable and transparent, and we will achieve the target set for us.”

The NWDC board chairman was accompanied by the Managing Director of the Commission, Prof. Shehu Abdullahi Ma’aji, and other members of the board representing the seven states of the North West and the six geopolitical zones.
