The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC wants Civil Society Organizations, CSOs to support efforts of security and Law enforcement agencies in tackling the menace of aspirants buying over delegates in the forth coming Party Primaries in Anambra and FCT Area Council election.
INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who made the call during a meeting with Civil Society Organizations in Abuja, said advocacy and monitoring party primaries would check corrupt practices and strengthen the electoral process.
He notified the CSOs that party primaries for this year’s Anambra State Governorship Election would commence next month while that of the FCT Area Council election would follow later.
He reiterated that the commission had uploaded a timetable and a schedule of activities for the Area Council election in the FCT, which is the only part where INEC conducts Local Government Election in the country.

According to him, the four year tenure of the Six Chairmen and Sixty Two Councillors will end next year.
Responding on behalf of Civil Society Organizations, Mr. Ezenwa Nwagwu of Partners for Electoral Reforms pledged that they will work closely with INEC and other stakeholders to ensure that the electoral process is free, fair, and credible.
Mr. Nwagwu, however, appealed to INEC to make adequate preparation for the conduct of this year’s Anambra State Governorship Election.
