NUJ FCT COUNCIL Commits To Professionalism, Effective Service Delivery

Background

The Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, FCT Council has restated commitment towards effective service delivery in the interest of all members.

The chairman of the Council, Comrade Grace Ike stated this whien she received members of the NUJ, FRCN, Abuja operations chapel.

The Chairman, who commended the team for their immense support before and after her election said her administration would continue to uphold transparency and accountability aimed at repositioning the Union .

She, however, urged members of the Council to imbibe ethics of the profession by ensuring balanced reportage for national cohesion.

 

We must continue to embrace the spirit of unionism by coming together to fight every limitation in the profession to enhance exemplary leadership worthy of emulation”.

In an opening remark, the Chairman (NUJ) Abuja operations chapel, Mrs Shakirat Alabi described Comrade Ike’s election as a round peg in a round hole because of her capacity to bring sanity into the union.

Mrs Alabi, however, reaffirmed support of the (NUJ) Abuja, operations chapel to make her succeed in building a better NUJ, where everyone will be carried along devoid of sentiments.

In a reaction, Deputy Director, New Media (FRCN) Abuja operations, Mrs Grace Namiji commended the FCT Council chairman, Grace Ike, for her achievements in less than two months in bringing about the needed change members had been yearning for.

She said, “I want to thank you very much for carrying everyone one along without bias, especially NUJ, Abuja operations.” We shall continue to support you to deliver on your core mandate.

The chairman, Nigerian Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Mrs Bassey Ikpang solicited for more collaboration towards uplifting the union.

In a closing remark, the (NUJ), Secretary Jide Oyekunle appreciated the Chapel for the courtesy call, adding that in the 21st century, women as home builders needed all the support to break barriers, and all limitations especially in attaining leadership positions for effective representation and gender equality to change the narratives.
