Over 10,000 Classrooms, 475 New Schools Built Under AGILE

Background

 

The Ministry of Education in collaboration with Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment, (AGILE) is to launch “Madubi” the girl in the mirror initiative towards promoting Education of the girl child in the country.

“Madubi,” which means mirror in Hausa, is a strategic campaign aimed at improving positive social norms that support girls’
education, addressing critical challenges such as enrollment, retention, and completion rates at the secondary education level.

At the Prelaunch Road Walk in Abuja, the Minister of State for Education, Prof Suwaiba Ahmad reiterated the commitment of the Federal government in fostering equitable access to education and empowering adolescent girls to reach their potential as well as contribute to national development.

“Madubi is for all of us, educating the girl child is educating the whole society, it is not only about her, but the community, and society at large”.

“AGILE is doing wonderful in education of the girl child,l say kudos to them, we thank you for providing access and opportunities for girls to flourish in our society, we need to ensure that every girl child reach her full potential, she added”.

On her part, the National Coordinator of AGILE, Mrs Amina Haruna while highlighting the objectives of the campaign, noted that it is the reflection of every society aimed at educating the girl child for the development of the society.

“We want every girl child to be in school we are flagging off the campaign to show the importance of girl child Education, once a girl child is educated , the whole society is educated, Madubi is a reflection of every society. We have renovated over 10,000 classrooms, built 475 new schools, where there’s no primary school, we built junior secondary school close, no girl or any child should walk more than 5 kilometers to access Education”.

AGILE project was launched in 2023 by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
