Maikalangu Commences Inspection Of Completed, Ongoing Projects

todayJanuary 31, 2025

Background

In a bid to continue to foster grassroots infrastructural development, the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council AMAC, Christopher Maikalangu, has commenced inspection of some of the completed and ongoing projects undertaken by his administration.

At the LEA Primary School, Garki,
Maikalangu inspected the renovation of seven classrooms and expressed satisfaction with the work done.

Addressing the chairman and his entourage, the Head Teacher, Kashim Karshi said the School needs additional teachers to support the existing ones to which Maikalangu, assured the school of additional 10 teachers before the end of February to encourage teaching and learning.

At Durumi 3, Maikalangu inspected the construction of a 3 classroom block with offices and toilets but was visibly angry with the contractor for using inferior ceilings and demanded replacement with modern ceilings.

He also inspected the ongoing construction of a 600 metres road and construction of a PHC in Durumi 3.

Proceeding to Waru
community, Maikalangu inspected the ongoing two phases of 1.5 and 1 kilometer Waru-Yimitu road project before a stop over
at Galadimawa, where he inspected the ongoing construction of a 300 metre road project.

At Kuchigoro, Maikalangu inspected the rehabilitation of an access road and also visited Lugbe where he inspected an ongoing 2km road project.

At Gosa, Maikalangu inspected a 2.4km completed road project with dual drainage and in appreciation, a community member, Nuhu Auta, said economic activities had picked up in the community due to the construction of the road.

At Toge community, immediately after Gosa, along airport road, Maikalangu inspected a completed 1.5 kilometer road with dual drainage, to which Ayuba Ishaya, a community member, said the community has never witnessed such development, with the provision of electricity and access road.

At Sabon Lugbe, where the chairman inspected a completed 1km road project, he addressed the media, saying all the projects are sited in rural communities for them to have a taste of the dividends of democracy.

“Having gone through the projects today, I can say they are 80% completed. I am glad that almost all the projects were done well. The only place I was not happy was Durumi 3 Primary School. I was not happy with the ceiling used by the contractor at the primary school.”

“Nevertheless, all the projects are sited in our rural communities. In some of the communities, they had no access roads. When it rains, the roads will be impassable. So, we know that the communities need these projects.”

“I don’t want a situation whereby after millions of naira have been paid to a contractor then after few weeks, the road will be having problems. When we pay money to a contractor, we expect to get value for money.”

At Pyakasa, Maikalangu supervised the ongoing construction of a townhall, which was at 60% completion level and in appreciation, the Dakachi of Kakwa Pyakasa, James Shekwagu, said the community is grateful for the intervention as they are now beneficiaries dividends of the democracy.
