Nigeria To Partner Bangladesh On Youth Empowerment In ICT

Background

The Federal Ministry of Youth Development is to partner Republic of Bangladesh towards effective actualisation of a 5 year action plan on Youth empowerment in innovative technologies.

The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, made this known when the High Commissioner Republic of Bangladesh, Ambassador Masudur Rahman, paid him a visit in Abuja.

The Minister represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr Olusanya Olubunmi reiterated the commitment of the ministry in productive engagement of youths to reduce unemployment, poverty and diversify the economy in line with the renewed hope agenda of the present administration.

“To zero poverty, unemployment, etc, government can not do it alone, that is why we are concentrating on entrepreneurship for the youths, scaling them up with uncommon skills, skills that are scarce among us. For us in the ministry, anything at all that will enhance the potential of Nigerian youths, we are in for it.”

Earlier, the high Commissioner of Republic of Bangladesh, Ambassador Masudur Rahman stressed the need to improve the potential of youths of both countries, consolidate on the demography, stimulate them into trade, diplomacy and build up their capacity to meet international best practice.

“We are on the same road, it is very possible to achieve development faster with technology driven measures, we have to plan, synergize to drive the creative innovations in ICT. Youths can bring transformation faster with technologies. ”

Also, speaking,the Chairman Nigerian Bangladesh Business and Technology Forum and the Chairman Entrepreneurship Innovative Alliance, Mr Bob Achanya emphasized the need to explore Youths demographics to impact the economy positively.

Mr Achanya also called for the establishment of an inter-ministerial desk to profile MDAs that are important in the project.
