The House of Representatives has recommended an upward review for the 2025 Budget estimate for the Ministry of Information and National Orientation and its agencies.
The resolution was arrived at by the House Committee on Information and National Orientation during the 2025 budget Defence by the Ministry and its agencies.
The Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Olusola Fatoba who described the budget allocation estimate of the Ministry and its agencies as grossly inadequate, explained that for government policies and Programmes to be effectively communicated to the citizens, there was the need for adequate funding of the ministry and the agencies.
According to the Committee, for the good image of the country to be promoted across the globe with the intention of attracting investment into the country, concerted efforts and adequate funding must be given to the agencies saddled with the responsibilities.
Earlier the Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammad Idris, while emphasizing on the delibrate efforts being made by the Present administration to protect the good image of Nigeria to the outside World, pointed out that plans had been concluded to Launch the National Value Charter this year.
Mr. Idris called on the National Assembly to give the Ministry the necessary support for it to achieve its mandate of enlightening Nigerians on the right values, government Policies and Programmes as well as Championing the image projection of the country to the outside world.
The Minister reiterated that the Ministry would continue to carry strategic engagements on National Values and Orientation to achieve the desired socioeconomic development and peaceful coexistence.
The Minister was accompanied to the Budget Defence by Heads of Agencies under the Ministry of Information and National Orientation
