A member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Solomon Bob, has warned his colleague, Ikenga Ugochinyere, to stop interfering in the local politics of Rivers state.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja, Bob, who represents Ahoada-East/Abua/Odual Federal Constituency of Rivers state, accused Ugochinyere of overstepping boundaries and engaging in actions detrimental to the integrity of the House of Representatives and Rivers state.
“Both lawmakers are members of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
“Ugochinyere, who represents the Ideato Federal constituency of Imo state, supports Governor Siminalayi Fubara, while Bob is a staunch supporter of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Bob alleged that Ugochinyere had been meddling in issues beyond his jurisdiction, particularly matters concerning Rivers state, despite not being a representative of the state.
“How can someone who doesn’t hail from Rivers State have no ties to our people, and doesn’t live there claim to speak on our behalf? Bob asked.”
The Lawmaker also questioned Ugochinyere’s appointment as chairman of the Petroleum Resources, Downstream committee, despite being a first-timer with only three months of parliamentary experience.
According to Bob, Rivers state caucus in the House had previously complained to the leadership about Ugochinyere’s actions, but to no avail.
Bob’s warning comes after the chairman of the Rivers Caucus in the House, Dumnamene Dekor, also urged Ugochinyere to steer clear of the internal politics of Rivers State.
