A non-governmental organisation, Queen’s Dream Foundation has advocated for the inclusivity and support for children with special needs by creating safe spaces in the society.
The founder, Elizabeth Ogundairo, a 17-year Old, made this known at an event to honour the remarkable achievements of children with special needs at the Kuje School of the Deaf.
Ogundairo who was represented by her mother, Sade Ogundairo, said caring for children with special needs should be part of efforts by all to give them a comfortable life inspite of their challenges.
“To care for people with special needs, right from birth, is a very beautiful aspect of humanity, because this care takes love, compassion, and an appreciation of the inherent dignity in every human individual.”.
“When we’re able to turn our hearts towards them, we will be able to establish a society in which differences are appreciated rather than abhorred.”
She explained that the 2024 outreach was expanded to reach not only children with special needs but also widows by providing them with clothes, food and other resources.

In a message, the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Ayuba Burki Gufwan promised to ensure that every child is given equal opportunity to showcase their potential regardless of their disabilities.
A JSS 3 student of the Abuja School of the Deaf, Rilwan Adebayo, commended the NGO for the promotion of inclusivity adding that he was happy to be able to communicate using sign language.
He called on the government to provide more sign language teachers to assist them with their education.
Another student, Ummy Isham, appealed to the organiser to make it an annual programme saying this would go a long way in shaping the lives of the students in the school.
The event featured a medical outreach to check the health status of the beneficiary widows.
Dr Temitope Akinyele, who conducted the routine check on the widows, identified that a lot of women, especially the elderly were living with high blood pressure and advised them to undergo regular check up.
