The Federal Government says it will digitize the nation’s grazing reserves, cattle routes, and dams inventories to boost livestock development.
The Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Muktar Idi Maiha who stated this during a meeting with the House of Representatives Committee on Livestock Development, explained that the move will address conflicts between farmers and herders, as well as improve the country’s livestock value chain.
He noted that the Ministry had conducted a comprehensive assessment of Nigeria’s grazing reserves and routes, with the goal of developing new routes that are farther away from urban centers noting that successful implementation of the administration’s policies would create thousands of job opportunities for Nigerians.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Livestock Development, Mr. Raji Olawale, noted that the meeting was held to assess the progress of the Livestock Development Initiatives of the current administration.
The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the Ministry to ensure effective implementation of its policies and programs.
