The Anambra State governorship election will take place on the 8th of November 2025
The chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu announced the date in Abuja during the Fourth Consultative meeting with political parties ahead of next month’s governorship election in Ondo State.
Professor Mahmood Yakubu said in compliance with the mandatory requirement of 360 days, the formal notice for the election will be published next month..
According to him, party primaries will be held from 20th March 2025 to 10th May 2025.
On next month’s governorship election in Ondo state, Professor Mahmood Yakubu said the commission has commenced the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs for those who participated in the last Continuous Voter Registration in the State.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, said this is to enable new registrants to participate in the November 16 governorship election.
Professor Mahmood Yakubu however solicited the support of political parties in mobilizing registered voters to collect their PVCs.
According to the INEC Chairman, to make the process easier, the commission has uploaded the register containing the names and photographs of new voters to its website to facilitate seamless collection.
In a remark, Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC Mr. Yusuf Dantalle, urged INEC to provide adequate election materials and test-run the BVAS and IRev portal to avoid technical hitches that could cast doubt on the integrity of the election.
Mr Dantalle pledged that IPAC will lead in voter mobilization and urged political parties and their candidates to imbibe issue-based campaigns and eschew politics of bitterness.
