PBAT Seeks Support Of Religious Institutions

President Bola Tinubu has called on religious institutions to work together with the present administration towards achieving collective aspirations of the founding fathers.

President Bola Tinubu who made the call during a special Service to mark the 40th anniversary of the Methodist Church in the Federal capital terrory held at the Methodist Cathedral of Unity, Abuja said the federal government would continue to appreciate the roles being played by religious leaders towards the development of the country.

Represented by the Minister of the federal capital territory, Mr Nyesom Wike, President Tinubu assured Nigerians that the ongoing reforms of the administration would bring full dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

He called on Nigerians to have faith in God and believe in the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Administration.

Prelate Methodist Church Nigeria, Most Reverend Oliver Ali-Aba in his sermon also called on Nigerians irrespective of political and ethnic backgrounds to shun their differences and come together to build a better country.

Most Reverend Oliver Ali-Aba said the challenges in the country would end if citizens repent of their sins and seek the help of God for permanent healing and solution to economic, political and security challenges posing a threat to the corporate existence of the country.

Meanwhile, former President, Olusegun Obasanjo wants Nigerians to always do the right thing and depend on God for total peace in the country.

Chief Obasanjo, who received the Methodist Church’s highest honor, the Knight of Wesley, during the anniversary, appealed to citizens to believe in the country, emphasizing that it was not a mistake for God to create Nigeria.

According to him, God has blessed the country with natural and human resources to make it great hence, there is need for citizens to work towards achieving God’s purpose for Nigeria.

Chief Obasanjo who passionately appealed to religious leaders not to relent in providing spiritual guidance to the country also commended past leaders for their efforts in developing the Federal Capital Territory.

Former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, also commended the contributions of the Methodist Church towards the development of the country and called for the support of both religious and political institutions in making the FCT a model for other African capitals.

The Special 40th Anniversary Church Service was attended by the Former Senate President, David Mark, Minister of Finance and Economy, Wale Edun, Senior Government officials, members of the National Assembly and members of the Diplomatic Corps.
