The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, says the era of motorists picking and dropping passengers indiscriminately on roads will soon be a thing of the past.

FCT Minister, Mr Nyesom Wike stated this during an inspection of ongoing construction work at the Mabushi and Kugbo bus terminals in Abuja .

Wike who expressed satisfaction with the level of work, explained that after completion of work on the bus terminals, all buses and taxis would not be allowed to operate by the roadside.

“By the time we finish these bus terminal projects, we will not allow buses and taxis to either pick passengers on the road or operate roadside motor parks, everybody has to move to the various terminals, Wike said.”

He commended the contractors for the speed and quality of job done within the last three months, and expressed optimism that the job may likely be delivered before the initial set date.

“I am happy that at the end of the day, residents of Abuja would see that we have changed the landscape of the area, given them a different transportation system, which they have lacked for years.”

“I am so excited with where we are now. This site was flagged up on July 1st this year. That was at Mabushi, and within three months, you can see what they were able to do.”

“The time given to them is 15 months to complete the project. But with the speed the contractor is going, we believe it will be ready before that 15 months period.

“He has even told us that by January, next year he will hand over this project. This Mabushi and the one at Kugbo, Wike said.”
