Security: NSCDC Trains 135 Personnel In Weapon Handling

As part of efforts to ensure water tight security and curb the challenges of vandalism and vices hampering peace and development in the FCT, the NSCDC has retrained its personnel on weapon handling.

At the passing out parade of the personnel in Abuja, the FCT Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr Olusola Odumosu charged them to always stand up to emerging Security challenges bedeviling the country.

The event was historic as it was the first time the command trained and retrained a total of 135 personnel by its Training Department on weapon handling.

Dr Olusola Odumosu noted that the command has arrested over 120 persons suspected to have engaged in vandalism of public infrastructure and theft from January till date urging the trained personnel to up their games by ensuring a crime free society.

He urged personnel to be professional and discharge their duty in line with the core mandate of the Corps.

” With this new set of trainees, the command is better positioned to surpass our achievements so far in the fight against vandalism and the protection of lives and property. In the discharge of your duty always remember the rules of engagement, be professional in handling your riffles, protect yourself, protect your riffle and protect lives and property “.

The FCT Commandant commended the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi for his.approval of the training and the FCT Minister Mr Nyesom Wike for his unalloyed support to the NSCDC FCT command.

” I would like to thank our )Commandant General Abubakar Ahmed Audi, for his approval of this programme, immense support and empowering us to function optimally as a command.I would like to thank the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Bar, Nyesom Wike for his unalloyed support to the NSCDC FCT command, his empowerment of the command through the provision of operational vehicles, motorcycles and other operational gadgets has been an immense boost to our capability, I would like to assure him of the command’s commitment on delivering on our mandate towards enhancing peace and security in the FCT.”

In a remark, the representative of the FCT Minister, Mr Adamu Gwari who eulogized the performances of the personnel urged the command to inject more energy in the protection of critical national infrastructure.

The high point of the event was an award of excellence to officers that performed optimally during the training.
