NIS Commits To Rewarding Excellence, Building An Equipped Service

The Nigeria Immigration Service says it is committed to rewarding excellence and building a service that is not only motivated but also equipped to meet the demands of a modern and complex world.

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service Mrs Kemi Nandap made this known at the decoration of the newly promoted Assistant Comptrollers Generals and Comptrollers of Immigration Service in Abuja.

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board recently promoted fifteen Assistant Comptrollers Generals, ninety five Comptrollers of Immigration Service and other personnel across ranks as part of efforts to eradicate career stagnation within the service.

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mrs Kemi Nandap said the promotion exercise stands as a testament in the anals of the Service as a total of 13, 977 personnel were promoted to various ranks.

“The recently concluded 2024 promotion exercise stands as a testament to these efforts, marking a historic testament in the anals of the NIS. A total of 13,977
were promoted encompassing 6,697 rising from Assistant Supritendent of Immigration II to Assistant Comptroller General, and 7,280 personnel advancing from Immigration Assistant II to Inspector of Immigration”.

She charged the newly promoted officers to see their promotion as a call to greater responsibility with a renewed focus on border governance, migration management and application of cutting-edge technology in their operations .

“This promotion must be seen as a call to greater responsibility with a renewed focus on border governance, migration management, and application of cutting-edge technology in our operations, we are determined to create a service that is responsive to the needs of Nigerians in the 21st century. Therefore the nation and service in particular places greater trust in your capabilities and as such you must redouble your efforts to face complex challenges .

Mrs Kemi Nandap while commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo urged the newly promoted senior officers to ensure the highest level of discipline, transparency, accountability and excellence in their new positions.

“Central to our success is the need for you to ensure discipline, professionalism, and integrity at all levels of the service. At this level, corruption and unethical behaviour will not be tolerated as we seek to instil in our officers the virtues necessary for effective service delivery. ”
It is now your core duty to uphold the highest standards and set a shining example for the junior officers who look up to you and network with other agencies for effective collaboration that creates a positive perception”.

The Secretary, Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, Mr Ja’afaru Ahmed who noted that the issue of stagnation has been addressed under the Minister, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo disclosed that five officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service got Special promotions for their innovations , hardwork and dedication to duty .

The newly promoted officers appreciated the management of the board, the Minister as well as the president for considering them worthy of the promotion and pledged to deliver on the renewed hope agenda.
