The Labour Party, LP, caucus in the House of Representatives has condemned the outcome of the recent Edo state governorship election.
The caucus claimed their candidate, Olumide Akpata, was unfairly denied victory despite significant electoral support.
Addressing a news conference in Abuja, Deputy Minority Whip, George Ozodinobi expressed concerns over alleged irregularities and malpractices that marred the electoral process.
According to him, these included vote buying, intimidation of voters, and alteration of election results.
The LP caucus therefore urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to address these concerns and ensure the integrity of future elections.
While restating their confidence in the judiciary to uphold justice, the caucus said the Labour Party remains committed to democratic principles and will continue to fight for the rights and interests of the people of Edo State.
