The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, has commended the sacrifices made by the Nigerian Armed Forces in safeguarding the nation’s peace and security.
Speaking at a news conference ahead of the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, the minister represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Ibrahim Kana emphasized the importance of honoring the bravery of fallen heroes and veterans who paid the ultimate price to protect the country.
The Minister who further praised the Nigerian Armed Forces for their recent successes in tackling the nation’s internal security challenges, including insurgency, banditry, and terrorism said the federal government will continue to prioritise the welfare of the military for enhanced service delivery.
Badaru, who reiterated the government’s commitment to deradicalizing and rehabilitating repentant insurgents through ongoing peace initiatives, called for public support in these efforts to bring an end to the long-standing conflicts and restore national unity.
The Minister also celebrated the passage of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria DICON Act, which aims to enhance Nigeria’s military production capabilities, noting that this will drive military innovation, create jobs, and position Nigeria as a major player in the global defence market.
