Kapital FM 92.9 The Station that Rocks!
Naija Ratels Football Club, a Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership side, bid farewell to their talented forward, Olamide Adugbe. In an emotional match, the team celebrated Adugbe’s departure as she prepares to embark on a new adventure in Europe.
The match which saw Naija Ratels take on Nigeria’s U17 National Team, was a grand occasion held at the FIFA Goal Project, Abuja and was witnessed by top football dignitaries, including the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, and Secretary-General, Dr. Sanusi Muhammad.

Adugbe, who had been pivotal in Naija Ratels’ rise in the country’s top-flight, left the field to a standing ovation from the crowd, including her teammates and coaching staff, as well as former coach Bankole Olowookere.
Barrister Paul Edeh, the Founder of Naija Ratels and Chairman of the Benue State Football Association, expressed his pride in Adugbe’s achievements and her future journey.
“Olamide’s departure is a bittersweet moment for us. She has been a tremendous asset to this team, and while we will miss her, we are proud to see her grow and represent Nigeria on a larger stage in Europe. This is just the beginning for her.”
Adugbe received a commemorative plaque, a framed Naija Ratels jersey, and a match ball signed by her teammates at her farewell ceremony. These gifts honored her contributions to the team.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of the club, Allison James Jegede praised Adugbe’s dedication and influence on the team, stating.
“Olamide has been an inspiration to the younger players. Her work ethic and passion for the game are second to none, and we know she will succeed wherever she goes.”
Also, Blessing Emmanuel, the team captain, echoed that Adugbe had raised the bar.
“We will miss her presence on and off the field. Adugbe has set a standard for all of us, and we are anxious to see her shine in Europe.”
Naija Ratels FC wishes Olamide Adugbe the very best as she begins her European football journey. Her departure marks a new chapter for both the player and the club, with hopes high for her continued success on the international stage.
