Consequential Adjustment for New Minimum Wage To Be Released Soon – Labour Minister

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Dr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has assured workers that the federal government will soon release the consequential adjustment template for the new National Minimum Wage.

She made the announcement during a town hall meeting with organized labor and workers in Abuja, where the Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing socio-economic challenges.

Dr. Onyejeocha explained that the federal government is determined to create a template that will enable workers to enjoy the new minimum wage.

She reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to tackling the country’s socio-economic ills head-on.

During the meeting, guest speaker Prof. George Ogenyi urged the federal government to leverage local fuel production for economic stability.

Prof Ogenyi urged the federal governyment to stabilize the pump price of PMS and address youth unemployment.

Unemployment rate was at 4.1% considered very high according to National Bureau of Statistics(NBS, 2023)” Prof Ogenyi stated.

Prof. Ogenyi commended President Tinubu’s eight-point agenda as a comprehensive blueprint for national growth and development.

Organized labor and stakeholders called on the government to prioritize the welfare of Nigerian workers.

The Minister’s assurance comes as a relief to workers who have been waiting for the consequential adjustment to the new minimum wage.
